A Steady Presence Through the Tender Hours

My name is Bethany Wellington, founder of Moon Goddess Mama and a postpartum doula with more than 20 years of professional newborn and family care experience.

A postpartum doula is a non-clinical support professional trained to care for families during the days, weeks, and months following birth or the arrival of a new baby. This season can be beautiful, vulnerable, exhausting, and deeply transformative. My role is to sit alongside you with steady, compassionate support as you recover, learn your baby, and find your rhythm as a family.

The word doula comes from an ancient Greek term meaning “a woman who serves.” I hold that meaning close to my heart. My work is rooted in nurturing—caring for you so that you feel supported as you care for your baby.

Care Centered Around Your Family

Thoughtful postpartum support can promote rest, emotional well-being, parental confidence, and a gentler transition into life with a newborn.

I provide evidence-informed newborn care, gentle infant soothing, overnight support, feeding assistance, and practical guidance while honoring the individual goals and preferences of each family.

Support may include:

  • Overnight newborn care and parental rest

  • Daytime postpartum support

  • Breastfeeding and lactation encouragement

  • Formula feeding and combination-feeding support

  • Infant soothing and newborn cue education

  • Safe sleep education and nighttime routines

  • Cesarean birth recovery support

  • Care for twins and multiples

  • Emotional reassurance and a calm, nonjudgmental presence

My approach is never one-size-fits-all. Care is personalized, respectful, and centered on what feels right for your family.

Caring for the Parent, Not Only the Baby

Postpartum care extends beyond newborn support.

While you recover, rest, and bond with your baby, I can also assist with light household tasks that help the home feel more manageable. Depending on your family’s needs, this may include simple meal preparation, grocery support, bottle and pump-part care, newborn laundry, nursery organization, and resetting shared spaces.

These small acts of care can make a meaningful difference during a time when even ordinary responsibilities may feel overwhelming.

Trusted Guidance and Local Resources

You should not have to navigate the postpartum season alone.

When additional care is needed, I am happy to connect families with trusted professionals and community resources, including:

  • Lactation consultants

  • Birth and postpartum doulas

  • Pelvic health and occupational therapists

  • Postnatal yoga and movement professionals

  • Massage and craniosacral therapists

  • Physicians, chiropractors, and mental health professionals

  • Herbalists and holistic wellness providers

  • Family and parent support groups

  • Nanny agencies and household support services

My role is to help you feel informed, cared for, and confidently connected to the support surrounding you.
